One of the biggest known rock faces in Africa is situated in the Mulanje Mountain range in southern Malawi.

The west face of Mt Mulanje is 1700 meters high and is split into two main sections.

There is a guide book available called: A guide to the Mulanje Massive, by Frank Eastwood.

This book gives details of: the mountain; where to stay; hiking trails and route descriptions.

In 1998 Mark Seuring and Alard Hüfner, from the Mountain Club of South Africa, did the first known one day ascent of the 1700 meter West Face of Mt Mulanje.

the 1700m west face of Mt. Mulanje provides  adventurous climbing
